Sjo Associate Supervision Overview

Sjo LPC Associates

  • are independent; ie, self-employed.

  • pay a per-session fee for the duration of supervision.

  • self promote & produce their clientele.

  • pay no hidden fees

    • ie⸺Sjo does not

      • extract a percentage of Associate therapy fees.

      • invoice Associates for the use of her therapy suite or other miscellaneous amenities.

Sjo Associate Supervision

$100/ session ($400/ month)

  • invoiced monthly, with an option to pay up to four installments per each invoice.

  • consists of four (4) individual triadic sessions*

    • two (2) sessions may be back-to-back twice per month, if available.

    • all supervision sessions have the option to be triadic or up to two supervisees per session. See tridaic availability for supervision sessions with at least one existing booking.

Defining Statutory Supervision, Settings

Statutory requirement⸺Texas State

In order to maintain a restricted license, all Texas LPC-Associates must meet the statutory supervision requirement of four (4) sessions per calendar month**⸺two of which may be in a group format⸺until each associate meets the hour threshold to qualify for an unrestricted license.

Four minimum sessions describe the core requirement by Texas statute and are cumulative for all settings;***

eg, Setting One offers two sessions & Setting Two offers two sessions, with a cumulative total of four supervision sessions within the same calendar month. The session requirement is satisfied in this example. Each associate can satisfy this requirement with a maximum of two concurrent supervisors.

Note⸺Not all settings offer supervision and may provide deficits in either quality or the time required per statute for students/ associates. Therefore & occasionally, students/ associates must acquire auxiliary supervision in addition to their primary internship or associateship arrangement.

Sjo Supervision setting requirement

Option One (Sjo is the primary supervisor)

All LPC-Associates are required to participate in four (4) supervision sessions per calendar month** with Sjo’s private practice setting type at Sjo Blue PLLC with Sjo as the associate’s primary supervisor.

Option Two (Sjo is the secondary supervisor)

Associates may elect supervision once per week to accommodate their private practice needs for a minimum of one (1) session per calendar month.

Both students and associates may compress their monthly supervision with back-to-back one-hour sessions up to twice per month to honor time commitments elsewhere.

Sjo Associate Supervision Elements

  • Non-paid associate supervision. Associates are independent.

  • Constructive feedback and guidance on counseling techniques, diagnoses, assessments, and proper application of therapeutic theories & philosophies.

  • Associate case note review, noting; proper form and documentation, clinical terminology, and ethical compliance.

  • Complementary access to Sjo’s office suite & amenities.

  • Virtual and in-person formats.

*Individual is defined as a maximum of two associates/interns per session and can be either a ‘one-on-one’ (non-triadic) or ‘two-on-one’ (triadic) format. Group is defined as three or more associates/interns per session. The sum of individual & group monthly supervision sessions will total no more than four (4)( sessions per month for both.

**Sjo interprets and defines monthly Texas statutory supervision as beginning on the first (1st) of each month, a/k/a the calendar month, excluding the initial month of supervision where the start date is any day of the month other than the first (1st).

For example, supervision that began on July 15th will theoretically require a minimum frequency of once per week until the end of the month, or until four (4) sessions have transpired, whichever comes first.

The four (4) session count will reset on the first (1st) of each month throughout supervision starting with the subsequent month following the initial month, and all months thereafter.

***Setting is defined as private practice, hospital, agency, etc.

My ideal supervisee..

I am excited to work with clinicians who possess a strong ethical foundation & work ethic, who accept responsibility, are open to criticism, & display a passion for learning through continuing education post-licensure.

Clinicians who are dedicated to the counseling profession & who desire to build a full-time practice if they choose.

I look forward to becoming your LPC supervisor!
